Chesapeake Energy Arena is a multipurpose arena situated in the state of Oklahoma. This venue that was opened in 2002 is home to the NBA team Oklahoma City Thunder. Also the venue used to be home to many other teams including the CHL team Oklahoma City Blazers before it was folded in 2009. It served also as home to the arena football team the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz. Other teams temporarily took the arena as their home such as New Orleans Pelicans and the Oklahoma City Hornets.

Chesapeake Energy Arena’s ownership is to the city of Oklahoma. It used to be named Ford Center when the Oklahoma Ford Dealers bought the naming rights of the venue. In 2011, a deal has been reached between the Chesapeake Energy and the Oklahoma City Thunder in which the naming rights has gone to the Energy Corporation. For basketball, the venue has a capacity of 18,203 seats.

Since its opening, the venue has hosted several events for instance some WWE events such as Unforgiven, SmackDown or the Raw that was held there in 2008 and draw approximately 11,560 attendees. Since 2002, the venue has been hosting a Professional Bull Riders event every year including the Built Ford Tough Series that was being held every year except in 2007 and 2008. Basketball events also has been hosted in the venue including for example the Big 12 of both men’s and women’s basketball in 2007.

Because of the Hurricane of Katrina that ruined the surrounding of New Orleans, Louisiana, Oklahoma City allowed the NBA team New Orleans Hornets to temporarily play at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Of course, the venue hosts Oklahoma City Thunders events for which it is home. And for instance, it hosted the NBA Finals in 2012 in which Thunders faced the Miami Heat. The venue hosted as well several other games of high schools, colleges and universities of Oklahoma. Besides, numerous conventions, and concerts stop by the arena.
